Atrium is an ecommerce platform specialising in luxury sunglasses that was designed and built as a demonstrator for Automatic Engineering’s Shopify boilerplate, enabling us to use combine the newest front-end technologies with Shopify’s powerful backend infrastructure. The result is a visually modern, user-friendly online store that offers a seamless shopping experience for customers, while providing businesses with the scalability, flexibility, customizability, and future-proofing they need.
This boilerplate allows us to accelerate delivery time for customers seeking Shopify ecommerce solutions, while still offering engaging front-end interfaces and lightning-fast performance. Atrium showcases our commitment to providing our customers with a scalable, customizable, and future-proof ecommerce platform, ensuring their success in the competitive online market.
We build on Shopify's theme system, not replace it. Integrating quality of life development processes such as ESBuild bundler into the standard Shopify workflow enables us to leverage the massive npm library of packages. The ability to have modern tooling gives flexibility to follow best practices and ensures high-level code quality. Future improvements for the team is Typescript support for better debugging.
The packages employed isn't just for our organization, but we keep in mind the experience for the users. Shopify is a standard multi-page application with page reloads, thus integrating Modular Load provides us with single-page application like transitions between routes and image lazy loading to improve performance.
The technical choices made result in an easily maintainable project any seasoned Shopify engineer can understand, and a modern experience for the user.
